this was one of my favorite villans in this series, they show us a villan product of a personality disorder, but I remember one chapter where the puppet appers to do something without Arnold, of course the puppet was without move at the moment, so create the idea is something about the puppet or a mental disorder, was a great character indeed :)

plot twist: arnold only hears scarface's voice in his head when the puppet is off his hand, seems plausable considering his mouth isnt moving

I love how the animators did this, what they tried to do is have as many scenes as possible where it looked like Scarface was actually alive, even to batman, so they would often have scenes of just the dummy on his own, and then the voice, or they would have shots with just the dummy talking that way to make it seem like Scarface was literally alive, even though it's the ventriloquist doing the voice due to his split personality.

The Ventriloquist was one of the best Batman villains ever, I remember getting a few of the comics back in the 1990's when I was still moderately a collector, I had actually been collecting since I was a kid back in the 1970's, both DC and Marvel, so my collecting was much less frequent by that time as I was getting too old to be having boxes of them around the house Lol but now and again I'd spot an interesting one and the ones that featured the Ventriloquist/Scarface were among those, as I recall in the comics the Ventriloquist got jailed for a while along with the dummy and then they continued the story when he got out 'on a technicality' in a different comic that still had Batman stories, I don't have the mags anymore but it's great to be able to see it again on youtube, thanks for the upload :) PS I wonder if 'Scarface' will be back?, he's got more lives than a cat ;)

why was Scarface and the Ventriloquist never in any of the Arkham games?
Evin Ceniceros 4 месяца назад
Lol if your talking about Arkham Asylum Sharp didn't kill the Ventriloquist he was released from Arkham before the Joker took over and in Arkham City he is mentioned through the GCPD radio frequency that he has robbed a bank, and have taken two people as hostages
Sam Ja 1 год назад
+Anonymous Scarface was in Asylum a lot. But it's implied Quincy Sharp murdered Ventriloquist before the events of the game. He mentions beating a paranoid schizophrenic to death out of anger in an audio log, and he has Scarface sitting on display in his office.

This is a great moment of rehabilitation for Wesker, but I find it hilarious that even while he's rebelling against his Scarface persona and shooting him, he's still making noises for him. xD
Xehanort10 6 месяцев назад
+Henrik Magnusson Yeah. Joker's whole OTT Clown Prince of Crime persona is an act to make him look insane so he can avoid being executed. I think the comic where Harley came up with that theory was called Case Study and it was written by Paul Dini. Joker drove Harley insane and made her become obsessed with him to discredit her once he realized she'd found him out.
Xehanort10 6 месяцев назад
+MrRiggidig I think so.
CageCat 6 месяцев назад
+Xehanort10 Is that the one where the Joker is in the prison yard and beats a guy with his shoe?
Henrik Magnusson 11 месяцев назад
+Xehanort10 Alex Ross did a short story about that for Batman Black and White, where a few Arkham doctors theorize that the Joker is perfectly sane, but is using the Joker persona to manipulate the system, just like he once used the Red Hood identity. Harley Quinn once had a similar theory, and he had her become devoted to him to discredit it.
Xehanort10 11 месяцев назад
+Henrik Magnusson That's similar to what I believe about Joker because to me Joker's a perfectly sane but evil man who fakes insanity to avoid getting the death penalty.

Van PastorMan 1 год назад
+MattFolx The reason why the goons were following along is because Scarface was the brains. They couldn't commit successful robberies without his perfect planning. They knew Scarface was just a puppet.
MattFolx 1 год назад
+insanemindset I'm not talking about the ventriloquist, I'm pointing out the Pawns of the puppet, those two bone heads relying on a wooden dummy..but I agree on you're opinion of the matter cuz the ventriloquist/Scarface concept is awesome in story telling in the matter of human psychology
insanemindset 1 год назад
+MattFolx To be fair, Arnold did have a traumatizing childhood and repressed himself till he killed a guy and got sent to prison. It was even hinted that he has a personality disorder and that Scarface embodied all of Arnold's anger and hate.

The artists for this series found the Scarface episodes to be a great vent for their frustrations at the censorship they had to work under; since Fox did not consider Scarface a living character they were able to come up with all sorts of gruesome ways to do away with him in each episode.
Vinny Raptor 1 год назад
Hell Yeah
Xehanort10 3 года назад
I always thought Scarface was supernatural too. I've never believed it's just Arnold acting out an alternate personality through the dummy.
ClassicToonFan64 3 года назад
Gotham's Blackgate Penitentiary once had a Gallows Tree from which 313 criminals were hanged. The wood from that tree was whittled by an inmate into the puppet Scarface, and that inmate was murdered by Arnold Wesker, a man who soon fell under Scarface's influence. Besides the split-personality theory, it's been suggested that Scarface is possessed by the souls of who died beneath the gallows Tree.
aseriousman91 3 года назад
The nervous-looking bald man is Arnold Wesker, a master ventriloquist with a split personality. When he has the Scarface puppet the gangster persona takes over and he essentially talks to himself through the doll.

Xehanort10 3 года назад
In some stories Scarface is a supernatural dummy who's possessed by the souls of the criminals who were hanged on the gallows tree he was sculpted from. Other times he's just Arnold's alternate personality.

@jamespg1993 yeah i know but that they're insane bullshit just doesn't work. I know I'm nitpicking cuz it's a childrens show but I just wish there was a more realistic and clever way they could explain Batman's rouges going to Arkham
knightofjustica 4 года назад
@Raffasaur69 no that bull even if batman is the one who caught them he still has to leave them or brings them to the police who make the actual arrest if a criminal is caught by a cilvillian the criminal will still go to jail the court wont say it does not count seeing that he was not court by a police officer.
The Legion 4 года назад
But will it blend?
Raffasaur69 4 года назад
@jamespg1993 nah i'm totally happy we don't kill them lol but i think there should be a more realistic reason reason we don't kill them, something political.they did say in the episode Trial that since Batman arrests them and not a police officer the courts have to send them to Arkham I wish they'd explore that a little more
knightofjustica 4 года назад
@Raffasaur69 well yer but if all of these guys were executed it would be the end of the show what the point of batman if there are no villians
Raffasaur69 4 года назад
@Shurekien Joker's not crazy. I never got why they say most of Batman's villains are crazy or why they send them to Arkham for that matter. Crazy would imply they don't appreciate the severity of their actions. They know perfectly well what their doing is wrong they just don't care. They're sociopaths who need to have the state kill them, not misunderstood mental cases.

I always liked how each main batman villain (altleast a lot of them) are really just insane. Like the ventriloquist is really just insane and has multiple personality disorder in some of his versions.
